Printools XT 4.0 is an XTensions module for QuarkXPress 6 that provides prepress professionals with a sophisticated suite of printing tools and timesaving options. The Printools XT interface includes rename at print, batch printing, print to file, preflight checking, page slug customization, print-style handling, and state-of-the-art live previews. Printools XT 4.0 sports a completely redesigned user interface, dedicating a separate panel to each tool. Optionally, combine rename at print, print to file, preflighting, and batch printing in the same print session to streamline complex printing tasks.Rename the document during the output stage, without altering the actual document name. Renaming can be useful, for example, with certain RIPs that will not accept long document names. This feature also helps track revisions or when printing individual pages for manual imposition. Specify up to three components in the new name. For each, choose from: project name, layout name, Project_Layout, the page range, a three-digit serial number, or any custom text.The preflighting tool checks for common document problems that can lead to time and material waste. Customize the preflight checks by selecting any of the following common problems: missing fonts, suppress printout, text overflows, broken picture links, RGB Images, EPS with JPEG compression, unknown image formats, hairlines, or effective image resolution too low. Optionally configure the preflight engine to automatically run before printing.Printools XT batch panel enables the user to batch print up to 200 projects using the same print settings as the current project. The source-files list provides a management tool for the projects to be printed. It includes options for printing all layouts in the projects, and whether to include the current open project as well.With print to file, save the printout to a designated hot folder as a PostScript file. When combined with batch printing, generate hundreds of PostScript files in just minutes. Specify up to three components for naming the PostScript files. For each, choose from: project name, layout name, Project_Layout, the page range, a three-digit serial number, or any custom text.Customize the page slug printed at the top of the page when printing with registration marks. Suppress any of the standard QuarkXPress tags or add up to seven additional ones: user name, machine name, line screen, emulsion, bleed, scaling, and custom text.Printools XT displays a live print preview updated in real time as print settings are changed. The actual page contents and print parameters are shown, including: print marks, single pages or spreads, manual or automatic tiling, page rotation, bleeds, page gap, flipping, and negative printing. The toolbar next to the preview contains several shortcut buttons such as change rotation, turn on manual tiling or print marks, and flip page. Optionally, manually tile a page by dragging the mouse over the preview area. A full-screen preview is also available.Save all current print settings as a new print style. Redefine any print style using local print settings. Combine rename at print, batch printing, and print to file. Show the current printer name in the print dialog.
