Xcatalog Pro is a QuarkXPress XTensions module that enables the user to automatically generate a catalogue (or similar document) with bi-directional links to a database.
Xcatalog Pro features an easy-to-use linking palette for making connections between elements in the QuarkXPress document and fields in the database file. Once the links are established, changes can be made on either the QuarkXPress document or on the database document. Use Xcatalog Pro to update prices, graphics, product information, change versions, or swap languages — automatically. Even use Xcatalog Pro to extract data from QuarkXPress documents to build a database.Xcatalog Pro adds ODBC support for on-line access to serious databases (of course, it also works with any ODBC data source or sink, such as FileMaker under Windows/MacOS, Access under Windows, and so on).Xcatalog Pro features bi-directional interactive and batch updating. Xcatalog Pro, runs from inside QuarkXPress, under its own menu and is database-neutral when working with snapshot files from any type of database. Xcatalog Pro also links directly with FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Pro run-time applications.Xcatalog Pro's new get link from contents feature virtually eliminates entering key values. Power linking is quick and easy when coupled with the newly expanded related field linking options. These new features speed up and simplify table linking, too. Use Xcatalog Pro shortcuts and dynamically linked groups to automate page building. Place pre-tagged product blocks on master pages or in a library. Select a group, use the linking palette to enter the product code, and the correct text and graphics instantly flow into the blocks.Combine the power of Xcatalog Pro with Xdata and Xtags (both sold separately) and never make another link by hand. Just embed Xcatalog Pro links in the Xdata prototype statements, and build and link the document at once. Use Xtags to automate the document construction, and pre-tag the links, too. The result — a beautiful, automatically constructed QuarkXPress document with links already in place.Find images without full paths or file names. Xcatalog Pro has two new picture-searching features which find pictures and their folders from relative names (i.e., without full path names).
